This is a voluntary parish organization which assists the pastor and trustees by identifying specific parish financial needs and the financial resources available to meet these needs. This group meets four to five times a year to review quarterly financial statements, create an annual budget and make recommendations concerning any major financial decisions. The group consists of the pastor, both trustees and approximately 6 to 8 parishioners who are asked to serve on this committee by the pastor. An off-shoot of this group is the Building Committee. This group consists of 5 to 6 members who have building or construction background. Their role consists of monitoring the physical plant of the parish and making appropriate recommendations as to our maintenance priorities. This group is staffed by volunteers who are asked to serve by the pastor. BackgroundThe universal law of the church mandates that the finance council be established in every parish to assit the pastor in the administration of the temporal (business) affairs of the parish. InformationMembers are invited to volunteer by the pastor whenever there is an opening on the council. Meetings are open to anyone in the parish. Regular meetings are scheduled whenever the quarterly financial reports are available. In addition, meetings are held to review project budgets for the up-coming year, to review annual fiscal reports and whenever need demands. |
